This weekend is sure to be hoppin’! There are plenty of Easter Egg Hunts and Doggie Egg Hunts to choose from. Plus, don’t miss out on a fun and informative Earth Day celebration and cap of National Library Week with a family friendly event in Lake Bluff!

 

Thornwood Park Egg Hunt
Apr. 15: 10 am
Thornwood Park (in Kenilworth Gardens), Thornwood Ave & Dartmouth St, Wilmette 

Sponsored by our very own Come Home North Shore Team of Coldwell Banker and Tracy Kearney of Guaranteed Rate. This intimate, community egg hunt starts promptly at 10 am, but come early to meet the Easter Bunny, guess the number of jelly beans and enter a drawing to win fun prizes! Easter Egg Hunt
Apr. 15: 9:45 am
Howard Park, 830 17th St., Wilmette 

Children will be organized into 4 different age groups, with hunts going off every 15 minutes starting at 10 am. Most eggs will contain candy, and prizes with some containing special prizes handed out at the end of the hunt. A special visit by the Easter Bunny will provide photo opportunities. Pre-registration is required by clicking here. Tickets are $7 for residents and $9 for non-residents. Bring your own basket.

 

1st Annual Doggie Egg Hunt
Apr. 15: 1 pm
Gillson Park, 800 Gillson Park Dr., Wilmette

Put your dog's nose to the test!! Dogs will sniff out eggs filled with treats or coupons for special prizes. Doggie hunts will be organized by age group beginning at 1 p.m. One handler per dog who must be 18 years of age or older. All dogs must remain on-leash for the entire event and be at least 4 months old to participate and wearing current rabies tags. Tickets are $7 for residents and $9 for non-residents per dog. Bring your own basket. You MUST pre-register to participate by clicking here. This event may be cancelled due to inclement weather. 

 

Winnetka Park District 44th Annual Egg Hunt
Apr. 15: 10 – 11 am
West Elm Park, 1155 Elm St., Winnetka 

Join the fun and excitement of hunting for goody-filled eggs in Winnetka’s Annual Egg Hunt. After the eggs are all cracked, stick around and get your picture taken with the hare himself, EB the Bunny.  All parents and children will have the opportunity to get their picture taken, bounce around on inflatables, and check out the live petting zoo! Children under three should hop on over to the “Bunnies-in-Training” pen where they can safely explore unfilled eggs. Bring your own basket. For more info, click here.

 

Doggie Egg Hunt
Apr. 15: 12 – 1 pm
West Elm Park, 1155 Elm St., Winnetka

This egg hunt is just for dogs and will immediately follow the children’s egg hunt. March with your dog in an Egg Hunt Parade, take your dog through the Doggy Obstacle Course, and scour for treats hidden in plastic eggs. Those registered by April 13 will be guaranteed a goody bag. Those registered after this date will receive goody bags while supplies last. Tickets: $10R/$15 NR before April 13, prices go up $5 after April 13. For more info and to register, click here.

 

Highland Park Egg Hunt
Apr. 15: 10 am
Sunset Woods Park, 1801 Sunset Rd., (middle pavilion) Highland Park 

Gather colorful eggs filled with toys and fun surprises. One special egg will hold a family pass to Hidden Creek AquaPark for Summer 2017. Children will be divided into groups by age and should keep an eye out for a special guest. No registration needed. For more info: 847-831-3810.

 

Earth Day Celebration
Apr. 15: 10 am – 2 pm
Kent Fuller Air Station Prairie, 2400 Compass Rd., Glenview

Celebrate Earth Day at this free community-wide event filled with family activities, nature walks, environmental exhibits and more. National Library Week Spectacular
Apr. 15: 1:30 – 3:30 pm
Lake Bluff Public Library, 123 E. Scranton Ave., Lake Bluff 

Celebrate the last day of National Library Week! Beginning at 1:30 renowned balloon artist Holly Nagel will amaze you with her ability to transform ordinary balloons into everything from animals to superheroes! At 2:00, enjoy some light refreshments as the National Library Week Butterflies are released and at 2:30, try your hand at 10 Minute Trivia. Easter Egg-stravaganza
Apr. 16: 1 – 3 pm
Workshop HP, 1929 Sheridan Rd., Highland Park  

Come dip, dye, marble, and speckle basketfuls of colorful (hard boiled) eggs. Kids (ages 7+) and parents are welcome to attend together. $25. Register online here
