Tis’ the weekend for holiday merriment. You can choose from a plethora of seasonal activities to crank up your holiday spirit including a tree lighting, a winter celebration, a Breakfast with Santa, holiday markets, a holiday house walk, a holiday symphony concert and performances of a Christmas Carol and a Charlie Brown Christmas!  Plus, a special tribute to Elvis and a special evening with Rufus Wainwright.


Deerfield’s Winter Celebration
Dec. 1: 5 – 9 pm; Dec. 2: 11 am – 3 pm
Village Hall, 850 Waukegan Rd., Deerfield 

Celebrate the season at the Village of Deerfield's two-day Winter Celebration! On Friday horse-drawn carriage rides, a two-hour live ice sculpting show, roasted chestnuts and live performances highlight the evening’s festivities at Village Hall – free refreshments in the Village Hall lobby. On Saturday, visit Forrest Plaza at The Shops at Deerfield Square (740 Waukegan Rd.) for pony rides, horse-drawn carriage rides, a handbell performance by the Chicago Bronze Breve Ensemble, holiday photo ops and more.  On both days, various businesses will be hosting holiday activities and featuring special holiday promotions. Holiday Market at Elawa Farm

Winnetka Holiday Tree Lighting

There is no place like Winnetka for the holidays. Usher in the holiday season with the annual Winnetka Tree Lighting. There will be a visitor from the North Pole and festive carolers in Victorian costumes, leading the singing as well as hot cocoa after the lighting ceremony. The switch will be flipped at 6 pm. AFTER, the lights are lit, please follow the Grinch to The Book Stall on Chestnut Court for a story or head to Little Ricky’s for some more Santa time. For more info, click here.


Elvis Birthday Tribute Artist Spectacular

A Charlie Brown Christmas

Northbrook Symphony Orchestra Holiday Concert

The Gift of Music, a Holiday Festival of Choral and Orchestral Delights. Special guest artists who will be joining the Northbrook Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Lawrence Rapchak are the Chicago Children's Choir, Rogers Park & Humboldt Park Neighborhood Choirs and the Music Institute Chorale under the direction of Mr. Daniel Wallenberg, Conductor. Breakfast with Santa

While enjoying a scrumptious breakfast buffet, families will meet and greet Santa, have a complimentary photo taken, create personalized crafts and then take home a book from Mrs. Claus’ library. Christmas Around the World Holiday Faire

The Ladies Philoptochos Society of Sts. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 1401 Wagner Rd., Glenview 

With homemade Greek food, pastries, and unique gifts from boutique vendors, the Faire offers everything to prepare for the holidays. Santa will join children of all ages from 11 am to 3 pm. A luncheon of international cuisine will be served from 11:30-2:30 for dine-in or carry out. Greek desserts such as baklava, spanakopita and tiropites will also be available. A Christmas Carol

Christmas Home Tour

This delightful historic Lake Bluff Christmas Home Tour brings the splendor of history and the holidays to life and provides an insider’s glimpse at lovely Lake Bluff homes decorated to reflect the owners’ unique style. Participants are provided a guide and map and can start their tour anytime between 11 am and 3 pm (the tour runs through 4 pm). Rufus Wainwright
