Unfortunately, the fantastic weather is not going to last but the weekend’s lineup of fabulous events should keep you smiling! Choose from perennial favorites including a wine and beer tasting and an eco-film festival as well as some new-to-the-scene events including a trivia night, a special performance by Lake Forest’s own Kathy Sparrenberger and a hands-on story time with celebrated children’s author, Patricia Murphy. Wine and Beer Tasting
Feb. 24: 6 – 9 pm
Winnetka Community House, 620 Lincoln Ave., Winnetka 

Attendees can taste a wide variety of more than 80 top shelf wines and 20 craft beers while enjoying an expansive array of passed and buffet hors d’oeuvres & sweets. All wine and beer will be sale-priced plus case discounts and free delivery/pick up in Winnetka. Participants must be 21+. New this year: Purchase an exciting Connoisseur Upgrade to taste an additional 20 Reserve Wines such as Joseph Phelps Insignia, Dominus, Paul Hobbs Beckstoffer Cabernet Sauvignon, Caymus, and Inglenook Rubicon Estate. Wild & Scenic Film Festival
Feb. 24: 7 pm
Evanston Environmental Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd., Evanston 

The Wild & Scenic Film Fest is organized and produced by SYRCL (the South Yuba River Citizens League), and was started in part to help environmental organizations like the EEA grow their membership. The festival offers a line-up of the best in environmental and adventure short films covering a variety of topics relevant to those concerned with our planet. The festival sold out last year. Trivia Night: A Friendly Battle of Historic Proportions

Calling all History Buffs!  Come to the first-ever Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society Trivia Night.  Put on your thinking cap for a fun evening of friendly competition inspired by local history, upcoming programs and the year 1984.  Join a team- or round up your own group (up to eight people). The Dining Room

These walls can talk – and they tell amazing, beautiful and poignant stories. Set in the dining room of a typical well-to-do household, where family has assembled for breakfast and dinner and for any and all special occasions. The action is comprised of a mosaic of interrelated scenes—some funny, some touching, some rueful—which, taken together, create an in-depth portrait of a vanishing species: the upper-middle-class WASP. Join award-winning children’s book author Patricia Murphy for a “Mama, Look!” hunt. Search for animals throughout the store with your mom. Then, Patricia will read from her new book, MAMA, LOOK! where curious baby creatures and their mamas discover the world around them. Patricia J. Murphy is the author of over 150 children’s books as well as many poems, magazine and news stories, and programs for children. Her work has received numerous honors including the Learning Magazine’s Teacher’s Choice award, the Illinois Reads award, and inclusion in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Kathy Sparrenberger Presents VIVA LA DIVA! Encore

Kathy Sparrenberger, a Lake Forest resident, known for singing on over 1000 national TV and radio commercials, as well as performing with artists including Carole King, Michael Bolton, as well as movie soundtracks and albums, is combining her styles to perform a tribute to her favorite Pop Divas – including Karen Carpenter, Tina Turner, Dionne Warwick, and Celine Dion to name a few!
