This week has been stressful both on a personal and national level. Thankfully, there are many wonderful events going on this weekend to help revive my wary soul and yours too! From a little bluegrass and retail therapy to two powerhouse perennial favorites such as the Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival and the Fall Bulb Festival; plus a special blessing for our beloved furry members of the family….the weekend simply can’t get here soon enough.
Bluegrass on the Greens
Oct. 6: 6 pm
Canal Shores Golf Course, 1030 Central St., Evanston
“Bluegrass on the Greens,” is a family-friendly, Ravinia-style outdoor concert featuring noted bluegrass band Emory Gap (which hails from Evanston). This concert and neighborhood party celebrates the end of the highly successful 2017 golf season. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, picnic baskets, family and friends for this bluegrass music show and lawn party that will be held on the fairways in front of the Canal Shores Pro Shop between Lincoln and Central Streets in Evanston. The Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival 2017

The Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival is the quintessential kick-off event to celebrate the Fall season! Be a part of history as they attempt to break the Guinness World Record of for the most pumpkins carved and lit at once (30,851) and help raise money for Make-A-Wish Illinois. A Blessing of the Animals

This is a time to celebrate your pets and the gift of companionship they offered you. Pictures of pets you have loved and have no more are also welcomed as they are remembered in the blessing.
