The unofficial start to summer arrives with many local parades, pool & beach openings and hopefully warmer weather! See below for a list of parades and other special events happening throughout the North Shore honoring the service of our veterans and the lives that were tragically lost.


Glenview Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony
10 am
Parade route: Kicks off from the corner of Grove and Depot streets, then heads east on Grove to Pine Street before heading south to Glenview Road and then east to the Veterans Memorial at the intersection of Glenview and River Drive.


Winnetka’s 91st Annual Memorial Day Parade
10 am – 11:30 am
Parade route: Kicks off from the corner of Glendale and Elm Streets, then heads east to the Village Park. If inclement weather, an indoor ceremony will be held in the Skokie School auditorium.


Wilmette Memorial Day Parade
10 am
Parade route: Kicks off at the Joseph School at Ridge and Lake and goes east on Lake Avenue to Park, south on Park to Wilmette, and east on Wilmette to the Village Hall. 

Northbrook Memorial Day Parade
10:30 am
Parade route: Kicks off from the corner of Cherry & Western, then heads east to Church and Shermer and continues on Shermer west to Meadow and concludes with a ceremony at the Village Green. Free popsicles (while supplies last) at the American Legion Post 791 on Shermer.


Essence of Freedom 5K Run – Deerfield
Race Start: 8:45 am at the corner of Orchard and Todd Ct behind Runners Village
Awards Ceremony: 9:30 am Runner Village (Essence Pilates – 849 Waukegan Rd.)
Memorial Day Parade & Ceremonies: 10 am Jewett Park (Across the street from Runners Village)


Highland Park Memorial Day Ceremony
11 am
Highland Park High School Auditorium, 433 Vine Ave.
Highland Park residents who gave their lives in service of the United States will be remembered and the HPHS band will perform patriotic tunes.
